  • Who wants to go to Washington, D.C.? United is giving away a trip to two lucky high school students who are selected as winners this February in our annual Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Contest! To compete for this opportunity of a lifetime, we need two letters of recommendation and you need to prepare a short essay or PowerPoint presentation. If chosen for the trip, which runs June 7-16, we pay your airfare, transportation, lodging, meals, etc. The participants will be responsible for any additional spending money for snacks, souvenirs, etc. Click this link to learn more! www.united-cs.com/youth-tour.   • Granbury High School will host a College and Career Fair on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. in Pirate Gym. Both four-year and two-year colleges will be represented. In addition, information from technical and vocational schools as well as the military will be available. Approximately fifty representatives from in-state and out-of-state colleges will man tables at the fair.

  • Online registrtation is now open for Advanced Placement ExamsRegisration and payment must be complete by March 4. The exams are scheduled for May 6-17.

  • Credit Recovery is available Monday through Thursday from 4:30-6pm in GHS 308. This is time for students to make up for missed attendance or who lost credit last year.

  • GHS counselors will host numerous parent meetings throughout the 2018-19 school year: November 29 - Juniors; December 11 - Sophomores; January 29 - Freshmen (Spanish Speakers); January 31 - Freshmen.

College Scholarship Opportunities

  • Tom Ward Rotary Club Scholarship:  Applications available on table outside GHS Counseling Office; transcript and essay required. Deadline is Thurs., February 21, 2019, at 4:30pm to M. Barnett in GHS Counseling Office. $6,000 (total) awarded to four seniors last years.

  • Tarleton State University has college scholarships available for Granbury and Hood County high school graduates: $2,000 Granbury Wine Walk Fine Arts Scholarship (for full-time fine arts major); $1,000 First National Bank of Granbury Endowed Scholarship (need based); Tanton Family Granbury High School Scholarship (ag major - amount varies).
