UNITED COOPERATIVE SERVICES MAKES DONATION TO GRANBURY ISD
June 12, 2008 - United Cooperative Services recently made a $5,000 contribution to Granbury ISD to aid with rising energy costs. The presentation was made during the school board meeting held on June 9, 2008.

GHS CREATIVE WRITING STUDENTS CONTRIBUTE TO NOVELLA
July 8, 2008 - Creative writing students at Granbury High School recently contributed to a collaborative novella. The students wrote a chapter in a book entitled A Brother’s Sin, while students from nine other Texas high schools also wrote portions of the completed work.

GRANBURY ISD SCHOOL BOARD HEARS CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY REPORT
June 10, 2008 - The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees met for a regular meeting on Monday, June 9, 2008, and heard an extensive presentation on the Career and Technology Education programs offered to Granbury students. Consultants from the R4 Group explained that an effective program will raise student academic performance overall and lead to a greater high school completion rate. Course offerings will allow students to better prepare for post-secondary opportunities, to have a more informed idea of a college major or career choice, and to more effectively relate regular academic classes to career preparation.

STARS ACADEMY HOLDS SPRING GRADUATION CEREMONY
June 10, 2008 - STARS Academy held Spring graduation exercises on the evening of June 6, 2008, at Acton United Methodist Church. Forty-two students received their high school diploma during the ceremony.

SIX OUTSTANDING SOLOISTS LEAD GRANBURY CHOIR STUDENTS AT STATE SOLO-ENSEMBLE CONTEST
June 6, 2008 - Six Granbury High School choir students were named Outstanding Soloists at the UIL Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest. They were part of a group of seventy-one students from GHS and Crossland Ninth Grade Center who performed at the state competition, which was held on May 26, 2008, in Austin.

May 27, 2008 - Several seventh graders in Granbury ISD recently received recognition from the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP). The program identifies gifted children and provides resources to nurture the development of exceptionally bright students.

May 21, 2008 - Seabre Pope, a member of the Granbury Lady Pirate swim team, signed a letter of intent to join the college team at the University of North Texas in Denton. Her signing was held on May 21, 2008, at Granbury High School.

GRANBURY ISD SCHOOL BOARD APPOINTS NEW PRINCIPALS
May 20, 2008 - The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees met for a regular meeting on Monday, May 19, 2008, and approved the appointment of two principals to fill positions at Acton Middle School and Nettie Baccus Elementary School. The two slots are open due to the retirement of the current campus leaders, Bobby Mabery and Nancy Alana.

GRANBURY HIGH SCHOOL SETS GRADUATION, NAMES TOP GRADUATES
May 16, 2008 - Graduation exercises for the Class of 2008 from Granbury High School will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 P.M. Baccalaureate will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. That service, which is sponsored by the Granbury Ministerial Alliance, will be held in the Bagby-McMahan Performing Arts Center at GHS.
