Eight Granbury High School swimmers received All-State honors from the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association for the 2020-21 season.

“This was a very special group of swimmers,” commented GHS head coach Jason Pullano.  “I cannot say enough about the grit and passion they showed this school year.”

On the All-State second team were seniors Jaden Bradshaw, Daniel D’Souza, and Brady Willmeth along with junior Matthew Walters.

At the Class 5A state swim meet on February 27 in San Antonio, the foursome placed 11th in the consolation finals for the Boys 200 Freestyle Relay at 1:29.74 – up from 13th place in prelims with a time of 1:30.64.  The group had an initial seed of 15th going into the meet but finished with “monster swims” to move up four slots in the final.

Making the honorable mention list was the Girls 400 Freestyle Relay team composed of senior Mary Power and juniors Trinity Belott, Kori Brawner, and Ashley Loveless.  They clocked 3:50.53 at the Region II-5A competition on February 6 in Mansfield.

Individually, D’Souza made the second team after placing 15th in Boys 100 Butterfly at the state contest with a time of 52.86 in the consolation finals.  He had posted 52.52 during prelims.  However, he made the second team with his 52.22 time at regionals.

D’Souza was also honorable mention in the 100 Breaststroke for his regional meet swim with a time of 1:00.91.
