Pirate Powerlifters Brayden Olthoff & Enrique Sanchez competed in the Division 1 State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene on March 25, 2023.
Senior Braydon Olthoff finished 12th out of 27 lifters in the 242 weight class. Braydon’s Bench Press was the third strongest in his division, and his Squat was his personal best. Braydon's lifts totalled 1,585 pounds, including Squat 620 pounds, Bench Press 450 pounds, and Deadlift 515 pounds.
Sophomore Enrique Sanchez competed in the 275 weight class, placing 24th among the strongest juniors and seniors in the state. Enrique set personal records during 2 of his 3 lifts. Enrique’s lifts totalled 1,510 pounds, including Squat 530 pounds, Bench Press 420 pounds, and Deadlift 560 pounds.
Also attending the meet were two up & coming freshman powerlifters, Chase Cantrell and Cason Moore, who served the competitors as wrappers.
