Board Meeting Briefs
The Granbury ISD School Board met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 27, 2023.
Open Session 1:30:11
Trustee Billy Wimberly led the invocation.
Kindergartener Asa Jones from STEAM Academy at Mambrino Asa Jones led the pledges.
Achievement Spotlight 1:33:24
Asa Jones, a kindergarten student at the STEAM Academy at Mambrino, was recognized for his heroic behavior during school lunch one day when he recognized a friend choking and immediately alerted Officer Bobby. Asa's heroic act saved another student's life and was an act of heroism.
Wade Wilcox from the Special Olympics of Texas as they recognized three campuses who recently received the Unified Champion Schools certificate. Acton Middle School and Granbury Middle School join STEAM Academy at Mambrino on the list of Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools. Students and teachers from the three campuses were recognized by the board.
Band students from the Granbury High School Pirate Band, the Pride of Granbury, were recognized for their recent state solo & ensemble performances.

The District apologizes for the brief technical difficulty with audio during Dr. Glenn's report.
Pirate Theatre One-Act Play were Bi-District Champions and advanced to the Area contest on Monday.
Lady Pirate Soccer won the Bi-District Championship and will play in the Area Championship on Tuesday.
Every senior tennis player won trophies at their final regular tournament and will play in the District Tournament this week.
The GHS Bass Club tied for 11th place out of 40 teams in the West Division and is sending two teams to the Regional Tournament in April.
Granbury Rile became the Six-Time National Champions and had 3 cadets (out of 8 total) qualify for final round.
The STEAM Academy hosted We Kick for Kids and raised $1,700 for the C.A.S.T. for Kids.
The UIL Academics team were the District Champions at the 5-5A District UIL Academic Meet and now 18 students advance to regionals in April.
Granbury FFA member Hannah Humphrey made sale with her fifth-place steer at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
The GHS Pirate Jazz performed at TCU Jazz Festival.
The Stowaways were the Grand National Champions, winning 1st place in every team and officer category.
On Saturday, 7 students competed at the Texas Public Safety Association Conference and 4 will advance to the State Conference.
Two Pirate Powerlifters competed at the State Meet.
The MCJROTC Orienteering Teams took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
The Pirate Color Guard placed 7th out of 60 teams in the Regional A class and scored the highest in their history.
On Friday evening, Pirate Productions ran two live streams at the same time. The very first solo production of Pirate Baseball was entirely student-produced.

The board approved meeting minutes for the months of February and March.
The board accepted numerous donations to organizations benefitting students to the sum of $6,766.
The consent Agenda approving the Board Meeting Schedule for 2023-24 was pulled from the consent agenda as the January meeting date needs further review.

The trustees voted from the Region 11 ESC Board of Directors Place 2 and Place 5.
The board unanimously approved the renovation of the Brawner Elementary School Kitchen storefront. The project will begin in June and will be completed before the 2023-24 school year. The board approval is the first step but still requires final approval from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The campus has doubled in size since 2018, and renovations are needed to accommodate more students in the serving lines.
The trustees approved a new CTE Course for GHS, Family and Community Services. Career and technical education director Todd Gibson highlighted the course details, including the focus on community services, communication skills, and leadership skills.

Stacie Brown presented an information report on the Communities in Schools program which assists students with social work services. A copy of the report is available on the "Presentations" tab of the page https://www.granburyisd.org/socialworkers.
The board heard the Six Month Review of ESSER Funds presented by federal programs coordinator Hailey Veron. A copy of the report is available with other ESSER information in the "Presentations" section of the page https://www.granburyisd.org/esser.

Next Meeting
Trustees next convene for a regular meeting on Monday, April 24, 2023, with an Executive Session at 5:00pm followed by a Regular Session at 6:00pm.
