The District wishes to provide a copy of the notification sent to Granbury High School parents/guardians, Board of Trustees, and campus staff immediately following an incident involving a teacher marshal on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Dear Parents/Guardians of Granbury High School Students,

Since safety is a top priority in Granbury ISD, we’re writing to inform families about an incident that occurred in a faculty restroom at Granbury High School this morning, March 3, 2023. 

A Granbury High School teacher who also serves as a school marshal left a firearm unattended in a locked and secured teacher restroom. Students do not have access to this restroom. 

No one was injured, and the weapon was secured from the restroom immediately by District Security Officers. We commend the staff who took immediate action to ensure the situation was reported and resolved quickly. 

The teacher is on administrative leave pending investigation, and the teacher’s TCOLE marshal certification has been revoked. 

Granbury ISD remains committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students.
