2019-20 GISD BACK TO SCHOOL SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

With classes for the 2019-20 school year beginning on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, Granbury ISD announced the Back to School schedule for new and returning students. Parents and students will also have an opportunity to meet with teachers and campus administrators.
New students are those who have not previously been enrolled in GISD. Registration for these students will be:
- Grades 9-12 (Granbury High School): Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 1 from 8:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. in the Career and Technical Education Center at the back of the high school
- Grades 6-8 (Acton Middle School and Granbury Middle School): Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 1 from 9:00-11:30 A.M. and 1:30-3:30 P.M.
- Grade PK-5 (Elementary Schools): Thursday, August 1 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
New students should bring a copy of their birth certificate, immunization shot records, Social Security card, proof of residence (such as a utility bill), parent/guardian state-issued identification card (if available), last report card from previous school, and most recent state test scores (if applicable).
Parents may go to www.granburyisd.org/zones in order to determine the school that their child will be attending for grades PK-8.
STARS Accelerated High School will begin accepting applications for new students for the new school year on Monday, July 15. There will be Open Campus for all students and parents on Monday, August 12 from 1:00-4:00 P.M.
For all returning students previously enrolled in GISD, the Skyward online registration process will begin in late July or early August. A date will be announced later.
Granbury High School (Grades 9-12)
Enrollment for new GISD students in grades 9-12 at Granbury High School will be Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 1 from 8:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M.
For returning students, registration will be completed online through Skyward similar to last year. Class schedules will be available once the parent completes this online process.
Students may purchase parking permits for assigned spaces on Wednesday, August 7 from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. and Thursday, August 8 from 1:00-4:00 P.M. All student parking will be in Lot E (in back of school by the Career and Technical Education Center) or Lot F (next to Tidwell Field baseball stadium). The fee is $40, and students and families must have completed the online registration process and not have any textbook, supply, or fee holds in order to obtain a permit. Students must bring their valid driver’s license, current proof of insurance, license plate number, and vehicle description.
Freshman Orientation will be Tuesday, August 6 from 4-7pm with administrators, teachers, and student council members leading the new high school students through a campus tour and overview of procedures and other important information. This will be like a mock “first day of school,” and there will be separate sessions for parents. Both students and parents are invited to attend for the entire time period.
Fall Open House at GHS will be Monday, September 9 from 5:30-7:00 P.M. with a senior parent meeting to follow at 7:00 P.M.
Middle Schools (Grades 6-8)
The school district is divided into two middle school attendance zones. Parents may go to www.granburyisd.org/zones in order to determine the school that their child will be attending for grades PK-8.
- Acton Middle School (6-8)
- Granbury Middle School (6-8)
Enrollment for new GISD students in grades 6-8 at Acton Middle School and Granbury Middle School will be Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 1 from 9:00-11:30 A.M. and 1:30-3:30 P.M.
All sixth graders are invited to 6th Grade Pirate Camp on Thursday, August 8 from 9:00-11:00 A.M. The camp includes a campus tour and information about the school, and students will also pick up their class schedules. A parent session, which is not required, will begin at 9:00 A.M. for those able to attend.
Registration for seventh and eighth graders will be Thursday, August 8 from 3:00-6:00 P.M. This is an opportunity for students and parents to complete Skyward online registration, get class schedules, and to walk the building. Parents and students can come and go during this time.
Parent Connection Night for both middle schools will be Thursday, August 22 from 5:30-7:00 P.M. All parents and guardians are welcome to connect with teachers, technology, campus information, and expectations for the school year.
Elementary Schools (Grades PK-5)
The school district is divided into five elementary school attendance zones. Parents may go to www.granburyisd.org/zones in order to determine the school that their child will be attending for grades PK-8.
- Acton Elementary School (PK-5)
- Baccus Elementary School (PK-5)
- Oak Woods School (PK-5)
- Roberson Elementary School (PK-2) / Brawner Intermediate School (3-5)
- STEAM Academy at Mambrino (PK-5)
Enrollment for new GISD students in grades PK-5 will be Thursday, August 1 from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M.
Elementary students enrolled last school year in Granbury schools do not need to attend. In addition, those students who enrolled during Kindergarten Roundup in April do not need to attend. For both of these groups, only complete the Skyward online registration process.
Students must be at least five years old on September 1 in order to enroll in kindergarten. For pre-kindergarten, students must be four years old on September 1 and meet income or other eligibility requirements.
Meet the Teacher Night will be held on these campuses on Thursday, August 8 from 5:30-7:00 P.M.
Class lists will not be posted the evening before.
