April 22, 2021
Lady Pirate golfer Mason Lewis qualified for the UIL state tournament after placing sixth at the UIL Region I-5A tournament on April 19-20, 2021, at Texas Tech University’s The Rawls Course in Lubbock.
The Granbury High School girls were sixth overall among 16 teams. A GHS junior, Lewis placed sixth individually, earning her the state bid as the third-place medalist among players not advancing with a team.
Scores from the regional tournament were:
Granbury (342-348=690, sixth): Mason Lewis (74-80=154), sixth; Taylor Lawrence (88-83=171); Akyah Ditto (89-91=180); Lily Myers (91-94=185); Madison Kirk (100-104=204)
At the district tournament in March, the Lady Pirates placed second at the two-day tourney. Mason Lewis was first individually, with teammates Taylor Lawrence, Madison Kirk, and Lily Myers also finishing in the top ten.
The Class 5A girls’ state tournament is May 10-11 at the White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown.
