HOLBROOK RETURNING TO STATE GOLF TOURNEY

Granbury Pirate golfer Ty Holbrook qualified for the UIL state tournament after placing third at the UIL Region I-5A tournament on April 21-22, 2021, at Texas Tech University’s The Rawls Course in Lubbock. 

The Granbury High School boys were fifth overall among 16 teams.  A GHS junior, Holbrook placed third individually. He will be competing at state for the second time, following the team’s 2019 appearance to win third place. 

Scores from the regional tournament were: 

Granbury (329-329=658, fifth):  Ty Holbrook (76-78=154, third); Tanner Larsen (82-83=165), Carson Skahan (84-84=168), Hayden Whittet (87-84=171), Connor Garcia (97-92=189) 

At the district tournament in early April, the Pirates placed second at the two-day tourney.  Holbrook was second individually, with teammate Tanner Larsen finishing in ninth. 

The Class 5A boys’ state tournament is May 17-18 at the White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown.
