GHS JUNIOR PLACES AT STATE TRACK AND FIELD MEET
May 12, 2021
Granbury High School junior Luke Mankowski placed seventh in discus competition at the UIL state track and field meet on May 7, 2021, at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.
Mankowki’s best throw measured 154’11” as he competed in a field of nine at the Class 5A contest.
The GHS junior was the regional champion with a throw of 154’1” in April at the Region I-5A meet at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
Mankowski started throwing 117 feet, improved to 133 at district, 143 at area and then 154 at regionals. GHS head track coach Jody Brown has never had a kid who has shown that kind of rapid improvement, according to the Hood County News.
