CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS RECEIVE SEASON AWARDS
November 9, 2021
Granbury High School cross country runners were honored during an end-of-season party on November 8, 2021.
Presenting the 2021 season honors was head coach Amber Ward, who was assisted by Steven Weeks.
Most Valuable Player awards were presented to Ashton Lemens and Emery Kirby.
Other top awards were:
- Fighting Heart Award: Carter McKay and Alec Wilkinson
- Most Improved Award: varsity – Zaeda Sedgwick and Collin Valentine; junior varsity – Karolina Berry and Connor Boegler
- Teammate Award: Michael Aranda and Laura Burch
- Newcomer Award: Aiden Lemens and Alexia Patrick
Coach Ward also recognized the boys varsity team that qualified for regional competition: Alan Davila, Aiden Lemens, Ashton Lemens, Carter McKay, Aidan Turpin, Collin Valentine, Alec Wilkinson. The team competed at the Class 5A regional meet at Lubbock’s Mae Simmons Park on October 25.
Team members earning cross country letters for participation in four varsity meets and the district meet were Josephina Berry, Karolina Berry, Alan Davila, Aiden Lemens, Alexie Patrick, Zaeda Sedgwick, Aidan Turpin, and Collin Valentine.
Iron Man and Woman awards for four-year participation in cross country went to Laura Burch, Ashton Lemens, and Collin Valentine.
Earning Academic All-State honors were seniors Laura Burch and Ashton Lemens.
