PIRATE FOOTBALL PLAYERS MAKE ACADEMIC ALL-STATE TEAM
December 7, 2021
Thirteen members of the Granbury Pirate football team were honored with selection to the 2021-22 Academic All-State football squads by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
Pirate Football team members making the all-state squads were:
- First Team: Gus Hamlin, Alex Mark
- Second Team: Tate Baker, Zane “Crash” Davis, Parker Lutgen, Preston Lutgen, Jahir Orocio, Andre Rocha, Jayce Robinson, Luke Stettler
- Honorable Mention: Austin Jinkerson, Brooks Pearce, Israel Ramirez
The teams are selected by a system that awards points for grade point average, class rank, and SAT or ACT score. The student athletes are placed on teams according to the number of points they have earned.
Criteria required to be nominated is: be a senior with an overall GPA of 92 or above, including grades 9-12 and the first six weeks of grade 12; be a member of the team in good standing at the time of nomination; be of good moral character.
The THSCA program is in its 21st year and has steadily grown to over two thousand applicants.
