BREAZEALE HITS 500 WINS IN BASKETBALL COACHING CAREER
December 8, 2021
David Breazeale hit a special milestone in his 30-year head coaching career, posting 500 varsity victories as the Pirates defeated Cleburne at the Van Griffith Kia Basketball Tournament on December 3, 2021.
The boys beat the Yellowjackets 59-42 during the Friday matchup of the three-day tourney at Granbury High School.
A native of San Angelo and graduate of Angelo State University, Breazeale first was a head coach in Santo beginning in 1991. He later coached at Smithville and Graford, which had a state tournament appearance in 2000. Breazeale went on to coach in Godley and Mineral Wells before coming to Granbury in 2010.
“When you coach as long as Coach Breazeale has and have as many victories as he has, you cannot overlook the sacrifices that his wife Cindi and daughters Lauren and Courtney have given to his career,” commented local sports announcer David Youker during a pre-game recognition on December 7 prior to the Granbury-Weatherford home game. “Breazeale is well respected by not his peers but also the student athletes that he has coached all these years.”
