The Granbury High School Lady Pirate golf team advanced to the regional level after placing second at the District 5-5A tournament on March 31-April 1, 2022, at Cross Timbers Golf Course in Azle.

The Purple varsity squad placed second at the two-day tourney.  The defending state champion, Mason Lewis finished in first place as the district champion.  Gold team member Kylee Upchurch earned a regional spot as an individual after placing eighth.  Purple squad golfers Akyah Ditto and Namsuck Appakarn also finished among the top ten competitors at the tourney.

Also in the tournament was the Gold varsity, which placed fourth, along with three individuals competing as medalists.  

Scores from the district tournament were: 

  • Purple (368-357=725, 2nd, regional qualifier):  Mason Lewis (72-75=147), Akyah Ditto (98-89=187), Namsuk Appakarn (94-94=188), Presley Grizzell (104-99=203), Haven Riddle (119-105=224)
  • Gold (391-422=813, 4th):  Kylee Upchurch (89-96=185, regional qualifier), Hailey Golen (92-107=199), Grace Jimenez (104-103=207), Reagan Neal (106-116=222), Lilley Prewitt (112-128=250)
  • Medalists:  Halle Carr (111-98=209), River Thomas (108-109=217), Jadyn Mobley (120-121=241)

The Region I-5A competition is set for April 20-21 at The Rawls Golf Course in Lubbock.
