Drew McKinnie was named the new head coach for the Granbury High School boys soccer team on May 16, 2022.
“We are excited to have Coach McKinnie in Granbury, and he cannot wait to get to work,” said Granbury ISD athletic director Dwight Butler. “We know that he will be a motivating leader for our soccer team.”
McKinnie currently is the head coach for the girls soccer program at Denton Braswell High School, where he has worked since 2020. He was the head boys coach in Cleburne for two years. McKinnie previously developed junior high programs in Everman and Eagle Mountain-Saginaw districts and also assisted with the high school teams.
The new head coach is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science. He also competed on the on the HSU soccer team.
In addition to his coaching duties, McKinnie will also teach social studies at GHS.
McKinnie succeeds Doug Kissinger, who has led the soccer team since 2010. Kissinger previously was an assistant coach for the Lady Pirates while also teaching physical education at Emma Roberson Elementary School.
