GISD TO TAKE CENTER STAGE AT GRANBURY FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION
May 13, 2015

Granbury ISD will take center
stage at the community Fourth of July celebration set for July 3-5, 2015,
according to announcements by the Granbury Chamber of Commerce.
GISD
will serve as the Grand Marshal of the Hometown Parade with the theme “Granbury’s
Old Fashioned 4th of July.” In addition,
Granbury High School junior Nicole Kallemeyn designed the winning entry in the
celebration’s t-shirt competition.
GISD
is a top performing school district with numerous academic achievements and
distinctions through Project Based Learning, innovative career and technical
education programs, and exemplary fine arts and motivating athletics programs. The latest bond initiative provides for a
transformation of the high school campus, enhancement of CTE and fine arts
programs, upgrades and additions to the security on all campuses, and other
improvements. One of the many highlights
of the 2014-15 school year was the international competition of their very own
Affinity F1 in Schools team at world finals at Abu Dhabi.
“The
Grand Marshal provides a way to honor those who have made extraordinary
contributions to the betterment of Granbury and Hood County,” said chamber
president and CEO Mike Scott. “GISD provides a rigorous academic curriculum and
an amazing array of individualized opportunities for student success in an
ever-changing world.”
Kallemeyn
has been involved with art even before taking here first class in the seventh
grade. She is a life-long resident of
Granbury and has competed in numerous art shows, winning several awards
including Grand Champion honors at the Star-Telegram Stock Show Art Show
earlier this year. Following her
graduation from GHS in 2016, Kallemeyn plans to study art at the University of
Texas at Austin and continue studies aboard. She is pictured above with GHS art teacher Mike Tabor (left) and Scott.
The parade will step off on the July 4 at 10:00

incorporate the theme into their float design. Judged entries will compete in the following categories: Best of Parade, Best Float, Grand Marshal’s
Award, Best Commercial, and Best Community. Parade entries will be accepted until June 15 by the chamber.
