“FOOTLOOSE” THRILLS AUDIENCE AT GHS THEATER MUSICAL

Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade
Center fine arts students during the presentation of the musical Footloose on May 1-3, 2015, at the GHS
Bagby-McMahan Performing Arts Center.
Based on the 1984 movie starring Kevin Bacon, the production
features classic 80’s music including the title song, “Holding Out for a Hero,”
“I’m Free,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and “Almost Paradise.”
Dakota Medlin and Brynn Deger led the
cast as Ren and Ariel. Other players were
Grace Arnold, Aaron Brooks, Amanda Brooks, Baylee Davis, Charlotte Elliott,
Karleigh Hesser, Coley Irving, Mason Jones, Christian Loper, Kate Jennings, Nicholas
Masias, Kiersten Mathis, Caitlyn Nettles, Taunton Puckett, Brennan Ross,
Christian Torres, Kimbria Younkin, and Zach Zagrocki.
Featured
dancers were Kenna Collins, Reagan Hall, Lauren Mullican, and Katie Tull. They were joined in the high school teenage
chorus by Ashley Brooke Boyd, Hannah Dewey, Nicole Futch, Lizzy Garcia, Leslie
Grubbs, Bailey McCall, Miranda Murillo, Taylor Nelson, Grace Sokol, Cheyenne
Terry, and Shannon Wornell.
Adult chorus
members included Lindsey Brackin, River Cox, Mya Kern, Skylar Lauren, Valentina
Mashall, Caitlyn Nettles, Brooke Osteen, Brittney Pinckard, Joey Robrahn,
Taylor Sherrell, and Talor Swindle.
Directing
were theater teachers Krista Alcorn Holman and Mark Weeks with music direction
by choir teachers Greg Doss and Joy Hope. Choreography was by GHS alumnae Brooke Goodson.
Stage
manager Rebecca Wright led the crew which included Lillian Hyde, Bailey
Occhipinti, Andrew Quinn, Bethany Pavelick, Kelsey Pavelick, Robert Stowell
Jr., and Katie Strickland.
Parents
and others supporting the production were Missy Brooks, Debbi McDonough, Stacy
Medlin, Keri Pavelick, Mike Pavelick, Jennifer Tull, Dawn Weeks, Jamia Wilson,
and Jennie Younkin.
The
musical was presented with special arrangement with Rodgers &
Hammerstein. Based on the original
motion picture screenplay by Dean Pitchford, the stage adaption is by Pitchford
and Walter Bobbie with music by Tom Snow, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and
additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins, and Jim Steinman.
