Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth
Grade Center are among the top high schools in the country and state, according
to a new report from U.S. News & World Report.
The ranking puts GHS and Crossland in
the top 10% of high schools in the nation. GHS received the distinction for the second year in a row.
“Encouraging students to excel in college
preparation, complete dual credit courses, and have a vision for a great future
are all things that cannot be measured with a bubble test,” commented Granbury
ISD superintendent Dr. James Largent. “This
is yet another example of authentic learning that is going on in GISD. This is also indicative of the quality of our
K-8 education and educators we have in GISD that prepare young learners for
high school.”
Only 450 Texas schools made the rankings,
and GHS received silver medal recognition based on demographics, participation
and performance on college readiness tests, and the number of students taking
Advanced Placement and dual credit courses, and other criteria. Crossland was honored with a bronze medal
distinction.
”Congratulations to the staff and students
on both of these campuses for this national recognition,” Largent said. “This is really an award for our entire
district, as these kids come up from all the schools in GISD.”
