GHS PIRATE BAND NAMES NEW LEADERSHIP

Asylum The GHS Pirate Band announced new student leaders for the 2014-15 school year and the fall marching show.
 
Alissa Jillson will the head drum major assisted by Jocelyn Espinoza and Braden Jumper. Jillson has been a drum major during the current school year.
 
Also serving in band leadership positions are color guard captain Cheyenne Redden and section leaders Whitney Shearon (flute), Rayne White (clarinet), Cody Curtis (saxophone), Drew Harris (low reeds), Ralph Reyna and Matthew Johnston (trumpet), Brennan Ross (French horn), Cameron Weeks (trombone), Fernando Barragan (baritone), and Aaron Morgan (tuba).
 
This fall marching show “Asylum” will feature music by Hector Berlioz, Peter Graham, Pat Metheny, Sergei Profofiev, and Samuel Barber. Classical music included will be the fifth movement of Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique” and Barber’s “Adagio for Strings.” 
 
2014 will not be year for Class 5A schools to advance past UIL regional marching contest, but the band will participate in a number of invitational competitions.
