The
Granbury High School Pirate Band will begin preparation for the fall marching
season during a summer band camp beginning on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.
GHS PIRATE BAND READY FOR SUMMER CAMP

27, 2015

All
band students will report daily 7:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. through the beginning
of school year, which starts on Monday, August 24.
The
drumline, color guard, and section leaders begin a day earlier than the rest of
the band on Monday, July 27.
Band
registration will be held on Thursday, July 30 for all students and parents
from 5:00 P.M. in the Granbury Middle School cafeteria. In addition, a
parent performance and social is scheduled for Thursday, August 20.
This
fall marching show “The Maze” will feature “Symphony No. 1” by Samuel Barber.
2015
will be a year for Class 5A schools to advance past UIL regional marching
contest, and the band will also participate in invitational festivals at
Midlothian and DeSoto. The region
competition is set for Saturday, October 13 in Burleson. In addition, the drumline expects to compete
at contests in Hurst-Euless-Bedford and Flower Mound again this year. A complete schedule for all band activities

During
the summer camp, the band will follow the heat and hot weather procedures
developed by GHS athletic trainers. The
procedures are available at www.granburyisd.org/piratesportsmedicine.
Braden
Jumper will the head drum major assisted by Emma McKelvain. Also serving in
band leadership positions are drumline captain Reagan Hall; section leaders
Whitney Shearon (flute), Reagan Clarkson (clarinet), Sam Perez (saxophone), Matthew
Johnston (trumpet), Brennan Ross (French horn), Fernando Barragan (low brass),
and Aaron Morgan (tuba); drill captains Reece Ahler, Brynn Bednarz, Melaine
Boleng, Gavin Clarkson, Shannon Cooke, Tiffany Henney, Kalvin Hughes, Saylor
Jordan, Rayni Skaggs, Lily Thornton, and Cameron Weeks.
