Acton Middle School band
students were in Downtown Dallas on April 19, 2016, for the performance of “At
the Movies: The Music of John Williams” by the Dallas Winds at the Morton H.
Meyerson Symphony Center.
The ensemble performed
arrangements from a number of Williams’s motion picture scores – including 1941, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Cowboys, ET: The Extra Terrestrial,
JFK, Lincoln, Star Wars: A New
Hope, Star Wars: The Force Awakens,
and Superman.
The concert also included the
Oscar and Grammy award-winning composer’s Olympic
Fanfare and Theme from the 1984 Olympic games in Los Angeles.
The students are pictured
above outside the symphony hall with directors John Morgan and Stephanie Bosch.
