Two new directors are on board for the choral programs at Granbury High School and Granbury Middle School.
Jeremy Bowen is departing GMS after three years to move to the high school. A GHS alum, Bowen is a graduate of Tarleton State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music while studying voice, piano, and conducting while also serving as accompanist for university choirs as well as student and faculty recitals.
Bowen previously taught at Denton Guyer High School before serving a graduate assistantship at Baylor University, where he studies collaborative piano. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in music education at Kansas State University. Bowen also serves as co-music director at First Christian Church and is an active pianist and clinician throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Joining the high school, Bowen will work alongside head director Kendra Fisher, who took the helm of the Granbury choral program in 2016 after succeeding long-time director Joy Hope.
The new high school director’s promotion follows the retirement of Greg Doss, the GHS assistant director since 2008. He previously served in Granbury at Acton Middle School (2001-2008) and Meadows Middle School (1997-1998). Doss also taught at Cleburne Middle School (1998-2001); Stone Mountain High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia (1995-1997); and Towers High School in Decatur, Georgia (1983-1985). He holds a bachelor’s degree from Shorter College and completed graduate work in music education at Georgia State University.
Doss currently serves as the resident music director for Granbury Theatre Company, which produces plays and musicals at the Granbury Opera House. In the past, he was a pianist at First Baptist Church in Cleburne and the director of the Granbury Civic Chorus.
Replacing Bowen at GMS is Emily Ross, a first-year teacher and recent graduate of East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Originally from Lawton, she joins Dawn Crnkovic on the GMS staff.
Christine Bridges and Randall Walters continue to serve as choir directors at Acton Middle School.
