GHS PIRATE BAND MEMBERS RECOGNIZED AT BANQUET
April 24, 2017




















Members of the Granbury High School Pirate Band celebrated success
during the annual band banquet on April 20, 2017, at the Granbury Church of
Christ.
Emma McKelvain received the John Philip Sousa award, the band's
top recognition. The GHS senior is an alto saxophone player and lead
drum major. McKelvain (left) is pictured
above with band director Mark Eastin.
Band leaders honored were drum majors McKelvain, Melanie Boleng,
and Bethany Pavelick as well as colorguard captain Kaily Reason.
Several other awards were presented:
- Wind Ensemble: Reece Ahler, outstanding senior; Lauren Boleng, outstanding junior; Ian Cone, outstanding sophomore; Alyssa Garcia, outstanding freshman
- Symphonic Band: Shawn Lawrence, outstanding senior; Hunter Meroney, outstanding junior; Travis Howard, outstanding sophomore; Bailey Carlton, outstanding freshman
- Concert Band: Elise Pepper, outstanding sophomore; Michaela Holder, outstanding freshman
- Percussion: Kyla Astane-Wiredu, outstanding overall member; Addison Jackson, outstanding senior; Tyler Rau, outstanding junior; Meghan Childers, outstanding sophomore; Amerson Meyers, outstanding freshman; Phillip Tilleman, most improved
- Leadership: Brynn Bednarz
- Outstanding Marchers: Naomi Benitez and Gavin Clarkson
- Most Improved: Dustin Tonkovich
Band booster scholarships were presented to seniors Brynn Bednarz,
Tyler Beeson, Tiffany Henney, and Saylor Jordan.
The students are under the direction of Eastin and Tahlequah Kirk,
Acton Middle School directors John Morgan and Stephanie Bosch, and Granbury
Middle School directors Michele Kahne and James Beeson.
