Two eighth graders from Granbury Middle School were recently selected to join the 2019 Middle School/Junior High Honor Choir of the Texas Choral Directors Association.
Selected for the state honor choir are tenor Brennan Fisher and bass Matt Shute.
Texas Choral Directors Association The students will learn music and will join two hundred other students from across Texas for a performance at the upcoming TCDA state convention. This select chorus will be under the direction of Tom Shelton Jr., who is Associate Professor of Sacred Music at Westminster Choir College, a part of Rider University in New Jersey.
Only two hundred students were chosen from an estimated 1,200 seventh and eighth graders who submitted audition materials. The group will participate in two and a half days of rehearsals prior to the concert.
The meeting of over one thousand choir directors will be held July 25-27 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
Fisher and Shute are students of GMS choir directors Dawn Crnkovic and Emily Ross.
