Granbury High School’s Pirate Band percussion ensemble performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention on November 16, 2019, in Indianapolis. 

In the spring, GHS was one of three high schools from all over the world chosen for the honor, following a review of recorded entries by a panel of college professors and professional musicians. 

At the convention, the Granbury ensemble performed a 50-minute showcase concert for more than five thousand music educators, composers, professional musicians, performers, and other convention attendees. 

The PASIC competition is one of the most prestigious in the world and among the highest achievements for a high school percussion ensemble, according to GHS band director Tahlequah Kirk. 

GHS students participating were Mathew Anchondo, Kyla Asante-Wiredu, Olivia Barone, Jackson Brice, Sully Brown, Matthew Criswell, Trevor Dawson, Carolina Garcia, Jordan Garrett-Erwin, Nathan Gibson, Adam Gomez, Mason Hadley, Katy Hall, Mykeil Harris, Hannah Humphrey, Emily Jackson, Julian Juarez, Jade Kisner, Justin Lloyd, Anthony Mercurio, Amerson Meyers, Shelby Mills, Palma Norwood, Jake Pepper, Maddie Purvis, Christopher Van Randen, and Sarah Wood. 

Founded in 1961, the Percussive Arts Society is a non-profit, music-service organization whose mission is to promote percussion education, research, performance, and appreciation throughout the world.
