January 13, 2020

Fort Worth Stock Show Art Show

Granbury High School art students recently won top honors at the 2020 Star-Telegram Stock Show Art Show.

Collectively, the GHS students won the Best High School award for their art portfolio fitting the competition’s theme of Western Art that expresses the spirit and semblance of the legendary Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo or North American Western Culture.

Students contributing to the portfolio were Allison Brumley, Ethan Clinkscale, Miriam McLellan, Ruby Mitchell, Isabella Novelli, Emma Revett, Caroline Rezsofi, and Sidney Stephenson.

The award marks the 24th win for GHS over the past 28 years. Over that timeframe, the Granbury program also has had two individual grand champions, one senior high champion, and thirteen individual winners.

Long-time GHS art teacher Mike Tabor, a noted local artist outside of his teaching duties, led the students for the portfolio.

Art professionals from the North Texas area judged the competition.  The art will be on display at the Stock Show from January 17-February 8 at the Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, and the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History.
