Granbury Middle School bands won sweepstakes honors at UIL concert and sightreading contest on March 4, 2021, in Glen Rose.

Both the varsity honors band the junior varsity symphonic band earned Division I superior ratings from judges for both stage and sightreading performances.  This marks the first time that both ensembles received sweepstakes awards.

“What a year it’s been! These kids have worked through a pandemic, a snowpocalyse, protocols, quarantines, limited rehearsals, life stress, and so much more,” commented GMS band director Michele Kahne, who is assisted by Ben Holmes. “They've worked so incredibly hard this year recovering from missed time last year all while preparing challenging music. Hard work pays off, and they were rewarded with top ratings.”
