GHS BANDS SWEEP UIL COMPETITION

GHS Pirate Band

Granbury High School band ensembles won sweepstakes honors with superior ratings at the UIL concert and sightreading competition on April 21-22, 2021, at Burleson High School. 

“This has been a challenging year, to say the least,” commented GHS band director Mark Eastin.  “But I have come to expect band students to always step up when faced with a challenge. 

Programs for the GHS groups were: 

  • Wind Ensemble: The Glory of the Yankee Navy (Sousa), Masks and Machines  (Dooley), Fantasy Variations on a Theme of Paganini (Barnes)
  • Symphonic Band: Prestissimo (King/arr. Swearingen), O Waly, Waly (Bocook), A Longford Legend (Sheldon)
  • Concert Band: The Red Cape (James Meredith), Our Kingsland Spring  (Hazo), Sparks (Balmages)

GHS band directors are Mark Eastin, Katelyn Johnson, Alan Olmos, and Tahlequah Kirk. 

Middle school bands at Acton Middle School and Granbury Middle School all earned superior ratings at their contests in March at Glen Rose.
