GHS ONE ACT PLAY ADVANCES TO BI-DISTRICT COMPETITION

March 23, 2022

Granbury High School’s One Act Play Leading Ladies was selected to advance at the district UIL competition on March 11, 2022, at GHS.

Selected for district honors were Amy Adams and Caleb Fisher, who were named to the All Star Cast.  Levi Reese received honorable mention recognition for his role, and lighting crew member Emily Pyle earned All-Star technical award.

In the play by Ken Ludwig, two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, the actors resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. Hilarity ensues when it turns out the relatives are actually nieces and not nephews.

GHS theater arts students in the cast are Amy Adams, Caleb Fisher, Alexander Funk, Liz Heil, Hayden Hoon, Ashton Lemons, Gage Ramos, and Levi Reese.

Alternates are Mason Covert, River Croley, Kennedy Griffin, and Sal White.

The play is under the direction of GHS theater arts teachers Mark Weeks and Melissa Hutson.  Student crew members are:  Jillian Tremble, stage manager; Jack Barefoot, sound; Katie Lou Funk, projectionist; Evie Watson, costume runner; Emily Pyle, lights.

The bi-district performance will be Thursday, March 24 at Northwest High School in Justin.
