As we end another successful school year in Granbury ISD, I want to share with our community some of our successes and thoughts about the future. We have so many programs and opportunities for students in GISD that it is sometimes impossible to keep up with all our student achievements.

As we end another successful school year in Granbury ISD, I want to share with our community some of our successes and thoughts about the future. We have so many programs and opportunities for students in GISD that it is sometimes impossible to keep up with all our student achievements.In 2013-14, we have had state champions in the We the People constitutional law competition and our F1 in Schools engineering team, who will also be one of two teams representing the U.S.A at the world competition in Abu Dhabi. We also had students represent GISD in state meets and competitions in UIL choir, band, swimming, tennis, FFA, and several career and technical events. In addition, we had 19 of our 22 athletic teams advance to the UIL playoffs, and several of our athletes will continue their playing careers at the collegiate level. And, Granbury High School was recently named one of the top 10% of high schools in the nation by the U.S. News and World Report, which should make our entire community very proud.
Our seniors who walked across the stage on May 29th are beginning a new chapter in their lives. We have many outstanding students who will enter colleges and universities all over the country, military academies, technical schools, training centers, or choosing to go directly into the military or the workforce. Through the generosity of community groups and businesses, over $6 million in scholarships will be awarded to this class to help fund their education.
Over the summer, you will begin to see facility projects at our K-8 campuses take shape, and late next fall, construction should begin at Granbury High School as we start the transformation of that campus. We look forward to the expanded curriculum and program opportunities these facilities will have for GISD students for many years to come. We also look forward to continue building positive partnerships with local businesses and community groups that are taking an interest in our students, our schools, and recognizing the role they can have in the positive things going on in the school district.
As we move into the summer months, I want to encourage parents to continue to provide learning opportunities for your children. Visit local libraries, parks, museums, and other areas where learning, exploring, and critical thinking can take place. Participate in one of the many summer camps offered at GISD or elsewhere in our community for engineering, technology, fine arts, and sports. Anything you can do to continue the teaching and learning process at home in the summer will benefit your student when they return to school in August.

These are the best avenues to get the latest news, information, schedules, calendars, and other information related to GISD.

On behalf of the staff and school board of GISD, I want to thank all of you for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of the lives of the children in Granbury. We consider it a great honor, and our goal is to help our students find their passion for learning, and inspire them to achieve great things. I hope you all have a wonderful summer!
