CHAMBER PRESIDENT HONORED BY REGIONAL CTE GROUP

Mike Scott Mike Scott, president and chief executive officer of the Granbury Chamber of Commerce, has been named Business Leader of the Year by a regional career and technical educators association.
 
Scott has been the chamber president for ten years and has assisted Granbury ISD in numerous ways during his tenure.  He helps organize the school district’s Business Education Success Team, which generates business partnerships with the school CTE program.  Scott also served on the 2013 bond steering committee and was a founding member of the Granbury ISD Education Foundation board of directors.  He and his staff also support the annual New Employee Orientation and the Teacher of the Year program.
 
The Career and Technical Educators of North Texas serves the Dallas-Fort Worth area covered by the Regions 10 and 11 education service centers.
 
The regional group is a division of the Career and Technology Association of Texas, which serves as the educators’ primary link to the Texas Legislature and provides regular updates on legislation and policymakers regarding CTE programs and workforce training to prepare students for the high-tech, high-skills careers of the 21st century.  CTAT is affiliated with the Association of Technical Education at the national level.
 
Scott was nominated for the award by GISD career and technical education director Judy Gentry, who serves as president of the regional association.
