FCCLA STUDENT SHINES IN STATE CUPCAKE BATTLE

Tia Chatman, a senior culinary arts student at Granbury High School, won second place at the FCCLA State Competition Cupcake Battle in Dallas on April 9, 2016.
 
Chatman’s white chocolate spice cupcake and Winter Wonderland display was a hit with judges and competitors. She earned a $3,000 scholarship to the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.

The GHS senior placed second at the regional contest on March 4, winning a $2,000 scholarship plus a separate $500 award from the culinary arts school – bringing her state and regional awards to $5,500.
 
At regionals, classmate Jeffery McGee also won a $500 scholarship from the school for his banana black walnut cupcakes.
 
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education.
