FFA STUDENTS ADVANCING TO STATE JUDGING CONTESTS

Five Granbury High School teams are advancing to Future Farmers of America state judging contests featuring top teams representing each of the ten FFA state areas.
 
FFA The teams advancing from Area VIII competitions are:
 
  • Agronomy: team (Astyn Alexander, Ricky Amador, Alyx Bradley, Nathan Mabery, Hunter Prewitt), third; individual – Astyn Alexander, seventh
  • Entomology: team (Macey Burch, Ben Jurardo, Alex Myers, Ben Valles), first; individual – Brandon Jurardo, first; Alex Myers, fourth; Ben Valles, fifth; Macey Burch, tenth
  • Horse Judging:  team (LaKayla Bell, Lana Bell, Trisha Gryder, Mikayla Hamilton, Abby Grace Thomas), first; individual – Grace Thomas, ninth
  • Range:  team (Savannah Oliver, Trevor Stringer, Tanyon Wickline, Ashleigh Wilson), third; individual – Tanyon Wickline, fourth; Ashleigh Wilson, ninth
  • Veterinary Science:  team (Samantha Adams, Baylee Baxter, Elizabeth Bell, McKenna Drummer, Caitlin Hutson), sixth; individual – Samantha Adams, seventh
The meats judging team – composed of Emily Brite, Ben Lillagore, Maclane May, Taylor Phillips, and Sarah Spradlin – will compete in area on April 16.
 
State competitions will be:  agronomy, entomology and horse teams – April 22-23 at Texas Tech University; range team – April 21 at Tarleton State University; meats and vet science teams – April 30 at Texas A&M University.
 
Other Granbury FFA judging teams were:
 
  • Dairy Cattle:  Dakota Berlin, Dallis McCollom, Sam Pence, Shaughn Shively
  • Land:  Seaton Berry, Sean Keys, Sydnie Knowles, Preston Phillips, Hunter Prewitt
  • Livestock:  Alyx Bradley, Karleigh Hesser, Brandon Montgomery, Maddie Ollinger
Agricultural science teachers are Trey Keys, Chelsea Campbell, Tyler McCoy, and Courtney Overstreet.
