AV CLASS WORKING ON UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN VIDEO
May 13, 2016

Granbury High School advanced audio-visual production
students are working on a promotional campaign video for the United Way of Hood
County.
Through an annual campaign and additional
fundraising, the United Way provides funding for numerous local charitable
organizations named as partner agencies.
As a pacesetter employer, Granbury ISD employees donated over $12,000
this year towards the annual campaign to benefit the local charities that aid
area schoolchildren and families.
Led by GHS career and technical education teacher
Kristen Baldridge, students videoed allocation presentations by partner agency representatives
as well as work and interviews at local sites, including Mission Granbury, the Miracle
League of Granbury, and the Hood County Senior Center.
“They'll be working on pulling together the video,
which will be shown throughout Hood County with existing Pacesetter companies as
well as new business prospects and community groups,” commented United Way
executive director Becky Mauldin. “They
are a great group of students, and a fabulous teacher. While filming, (Mrs. Baldridge) is
continuously pointing out practical learning points in ‘the field.’”
The advanced video production course prepares students
for post-secondary education or entry-level employment in the media industry.
Students are responsible for the production of several district programs covering
many activities and events at all campuses.
They are also expected to successfully create a digital portfolio of
their work that will be presented to a business/industry panel and can be used
for acceptance to various colleges, trade schools, and internships. The class utilizes
a variety of video cameras, microphones, mixers, and lights along with Adobe’s
Premiere Pro editing suite.
“It's just really great to see the students ‘giving
back’ to the community, and tackling this as a ‘real world’ project, applying
their classroom skills,” Mauldin said.
