ENTOMOLOGY JUDGING TEAM WINS SECOND IN THE NATION

Granbury FFA entomology team
members placed second in the nation at a Career Development Event contest on May
12, 2016, at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
The entomology team composed
Macey Burch, Brandon Jurado, Alex Myers, Ben Valles advanced to the national Future
Farmers of America competition after placing fifth at state on April 23 at
Texas Tech University. The group had previously won
first place at the Area VIII level.
On
an individual basis, Myers placed fourth, and Valles was ninth at the FFA
contest featuring students from several states for both wool and entomology
events.
In
the competition, students apply the
fundamentals of entomology and develop skills in identifying common insects and
their significance to people and agriculture.
Agricultural
science teachers are Trey Keys, Chelsea Campbell, Tyler McCoy, and Courtney
Overstreet.
