AG STUDENTS SHINE IN FFA LEADERSHIP CONTEST

Future Farmers of America students from Granbury High School recently shined in the Lake Whitney District LDE competition on November 9, 2016.
 
The Granbury FFA advanced five teams and won second overall in sweepstakes for the Leadership Development Events.
 
Advancing to the Area VIII contest on November 19 at Robinson High School are teams in Agricultural Advocacy, Radio Broadcasting, Senior Chapter Conducting, Junior Chapter Conducting, and Junior Quiz.
 
District results were:
 
  • Agricultural Advocacy:  Macey Burch, Caitlin Hutson, Ben Valles, Hunter Prewitt, Sydnie Knowles, second (advancing to area)
  • Radio Broadcasting:  Caitlin Hutson, Karleigh Hesser, Landon Butler, first (advancing to area)
  • Senior Chapter Conducting:  Alex Myers, Sean Keys, Grace Thomas, Landon Butler, Tanyon Wickline, Preston Phillips, Shane Rudd, Sydnie Knowles, Hunter Prewitt, first (advancing to area)
  • Junior Chapter Conducting:  Julia Keys, Maci Langston, Madisen Williams, Brayden Brockman, Kyla Shelnutt, Bridgette Teran, Whitney Carroll, second (advancing to area)
  • Junior Quiz:  Whitney Carroll, Julia Keys, Maci Langston, Kyla Shelnutt, first (advancing to area)
  • Senior Quiz:  Sean Keys, Trisha Gryder, Harley Walts, Sarah Petty, third
  • Senior Creed Speaking:  Mikayla Hamilton, eleventh
  • Junior Creed Speaking:  Syrah Mitchell, seventh
  • Senior Skills:  Brandon Jurado, Alyx Bradley, Allie Cogdill, Ricky Amador, fifth
  • Job Interview:  Lana Bell, twelfth
Through Leadership Development Events, team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.  Students demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication, and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization.
