GRANBURY FFA PLACES IN CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENTS

Granbury FFA members placed in first Career Development Events (CDE) competition on March 2, 2017, at an invitational meet in Jacksboro.
 
The CDEs build on what is learned in agricultural classes and encourage members to put their knowledge into practice. Approximately 12,700 students began the statewide-tournament in 28 different events which reflect classroom instruction in technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
 
Results were:
 
  • Entomology:  team, first; individuals – Alex Myers, second; Brandon Jurado, third; Ben Valles, fourth; Macey Burch, seventh; Harley Walts; Sarah Petty
  • Range:  team, eleventh – indivudals – Ashleigh Wilson, Tanyon Wickline, Kyla Shelnutt, Julia Keys
Other teams participating were:
 
  • Land:  Seaton Berry, Hunter Prewitt, Sydnie Knowles, Sean Keys, Preston Phillips
  • Livestock: Brandon Montgomery, Caeley Cody, Maclane May, Makenzie Sheffield, Brayden Brockman
  • Poultry: Madisen Williams, Bridgette Teran, Ally Beatty, Brittny Smith, Brittany Wilson
Students will compete in other contests prior to the area competition on April 19 at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
 
The Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association with a membership of 104,000 active FFA members. Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources programs teach skills in leadership, career development and personal growth. FFA gives students the opportunity to practically apply classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state and national competitions.
