The Granbury ISD Board of
Trustees met for its regular monthly meeting on February 16, 2015.
Board members approved the
2015-16 school calendar. Superintendent
Dr. James Largent stated that the calendar could be changed if the Texas
Legislature alters state law allowing for an earlier start date for students. The academic year calendar is available at www.granburyisd.org/calendar.
The board reviewed budget
assumptions and a general calendar for development of the 2015-16 budget. Trustees will convene for a budget workshop
on July 20 to review preliminary property appraisal data as well as other
proposed revenues and expenditures.
Trustees adopted a resolution
indicating a review of investment policy and strategies, designation of an
investment officer, and approval of independent sources of investment training
required by state law. Board members
also designated Largent, board president Mark Jackson, assistant superintendent
Dobie Williams, and district comptroller Emmett Whitefield as authorized
representatives for the LOGIC Investment Pool.
In personnel matters, the
board extended contracts for district and campus administrators. Board members received notification of the resignation
of one employee.
Reports made to the board
Largent briefly discussed ongoing facility
improvements for the bond program. He
stated that the slab had been poured on the new ninth grade wing at Granbury
High School and that the work was progressing on the new southwest parking lot. The superintendent also stated the district
was working on purchases for fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
Financial, cash flow, and investment reports for
December 2014 as well as a bond expenditure report for January 2015 were
presented to the board.

minutes from the last regular meeting, budget amendments, and several bids and
purchases for: instructional tools,
professional books, and teaching aids; auditing firm for the 2014-15 school
Donations reported to the
board included: $4,150 from the Lady
Pirate Soccer booster club for supplies and travel; $2,000 from the Pirate Golf
booster club for travel and tournament entry fees; $2,900 from the Baccus PTO
for student field trips.
