AES Student Council

Fourth grade representatives on the Acton Elementary School student council entered the world of local government to address Hood County Commissioners on March 27, 2018.

The group of student leaders presented a service project plan to raise money for the expansion of the Hood County Library.  Commissioners approved the students’ request, which is in conjunction with the Granbury ISD Day of Service community service initiative implemented by the school district.

Fourth graders will plan, budget, advertise, and serve pancakes to the public, according to teacher Shanna McPherson.

The pancake fundraiser is planned for Friday, April 13 from 9:00-10:30 A.M. at the county library located at 222 N. Travis Street just northwest of the historic Hood County Courthouse square.  The public is invited.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the library expansion was held in late January.  The project, which is expected to be completed in the fall, will add 10,000 square feet to the back of the library building.
