GHS Blood Drive

The Granbury High School student council hosted Carter BloodCare on September 18, 2019, for the first of three blood drives during the 2019-20 school year. The leadership organization undertakes several community service projects each year.

106 students and staff participated in the recent blood drive.  Carter BloodCare collected 82 units of whole blood and double red blood cells – which count twice because they can be kept longer and have added benefits for patients.

Over the last several years, StuCo has been recognized by Carter BloodCare for its consistent support in helping hundreds of area patients.  Past awards reflect the high number of people making donations, highest percentage of people donating, and the high number of people providing red blood units.

One unit can save three lives, according to council sponsors Melissa Knight and Kristen Titus.

StuCo also has blood drives scheduled for January 15 and April 8, 2020.
