BASEBALL, SOFTBALL SENIORS BOUND FOR WICHITA STATE

Two Granbury High School student athletes announced plans to continue their playing careers at Wichita State University during a signing ceremony on November 11, 2020, in the Pirate Pavilion.
Taylor Calcote will be playing baseball, while Alison Cooper is joining the softball team. The Shockers compete in the American Athletic Conference as part of NCAA Division I. The college is located in Wichita, Kansas.
A pitcher and infielder for the Pirates, Calcote is in his third year on the GHS varsity squad.
Joining Calcote at the ceremony were his parents, Russ and Michelle Calcote, younger brother Tucker Calcote along with GHS head coach Brad Eppler and assistant coaches Matt Holly, Danny Guidry, and Bryan Naradovy.
Cooper is a four-year varsity letterman for the Lady Pirates, pitching and also playing second base. A two-time team Most Valuable Player, she was the athletic district’s utility player of the year as a freshman and the defensive player of the year as a sophomore. Cooper was also named the Extra Inning Elite 100 of nationwide softball players.
At the ceremony were parents, Kerry and Brandy Cooper, and several family members along with GHS head coach Ashley Benson.
