Granbury Pirate swimmers excelled at regional swim competition at Mansfield ISD’s Debbie Weems Natatorium on February 6, 2021.
Among twenty-three teams, Granbury finished second in both women’s and men’s team rankings, garnering 240 points for the girls and 228 points for the boys. Colleyville Heritage was the women’s champion, while Grapevine took first place among the men.
GHS qualified for state in two events: Boys 100 Butterfly (Daniel D’Souza) and Boys 200 Freestyle Relay (Matthew Walters, Brady Willmeth, Jaden Bradshaw, Daniel D’Souza).
Twenty Granbury swimmers qualified for the regional contest, after repeating as district champions for the eighth consecutive year at the District 5-5A meet on January 21 in Mansfield.
Results from the Region II-5A meet are below. For state qualification, the first-place finisher from each region automatically advanced along with the next eight fastest swimmers/teams across the state in each event.
