In 2013 as a junior, he was District 7-4A pitcher of the year and also received the team’s most valuable player award. Hickey was a second-team all-district honoree and the squad’s defensive player of the year in 2012.
HICKEY PLAYS IN ALL-STAR BASEBALL GAME

Nathan Hickey, a 2014 graduate of Granbury High School who was a stand-out on the Granbury Pirate baseball team, played in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association’s All-Star Game on June 14, 2014, at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
The South defeated the North 5-2 in the 41st Annual THSBCA All-Star Game, which featured players from Class 5A and 4A schools. Playing for the North, Hickey singled and later scored in the ninth inning.
In May, the new GHS graduate received a full scholarship to play for the Paris Junior College Dragons, who compete in of the National Junior College Athletic Association as a member of the Region XIV Athletic Conference – one of the strongest two-year college conferences in the nation.
For the 2014 season, Hickey was named Most Valuable Player for both District 7-4A and the team. He was also selected as a GEF Scholar Athlete by the Granbury ISD Education Foundation.
