Justin Kochis, a 2014 graduate of Granbury High School, was honored on Thursday as one of the top scholars in the state by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals at the organization’s conference on June 12, 2014, at the Austin Convention Center.

The state educational organizational selected Kochis for the TASSP All-State Academic Excellence Team based on academic achievement, test scores, and writing skills. Only 18 were chosen for the team from among numerous outstanding young scholars.

Nominated by GHS principal Jeremy Ross, Kochis received a $500 scholarship and was recognized at the TASSP Summer Workshop at the Austin Convention Center.

This prestigious award was designed to recognize Texas high school seniors for their outstanding academic achievements and the rewards of superior scholarship. Students were nominated by their high school principals based on their SAT or ACT scores, academic grade point average, pursuit of advanced diploma, and other evidence of exceptional academic ability. Each nominee also submitted an essay.

In January, Kochis was named a Finalist in the 50th annual National Achievement Scholarship Program.  He was among the top ten students in the GHS Class of 2014.
