Nathan Hickey, a 2014 graduate of Granbury High School who was a stand-out on the Granbury Pirate baseball team, was named to the Class 4A All-State team by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association. The state organization made the announcement on June 18, 2014.
HICKEY NAMED TO ALL-STATE BASEBALL TEAM

Hickey, who was a second-team shortstop section for the state squad, recently played in the THSBCA’s All-Star Game at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
In May, the new GHS graduate received a full scholarship to play for the Paris Junior College Dragons, who compete in of the National Junior College Athletic Association as a member of the Region XIV Athletic Conference – one of the strongest two-year college conferences in the nation.
For the 2014 season, Hickey was named Most Valuable Player for both District 7-4A and the team. He was also selected as a GEF Scholar Athlete by the Granbury ISD Education Foundation.
In 2013 as a junior, he was District 7-4A pitcher of the year and also received the team’s most valuable player award. Hickey was a second-team all-district honoree and the squad’s defensive player of the year in 2012.
