GHS BAND TO BEGIN MONTH OF MARCHING CONTESTS
October

The
Granbury High School Pirate Band will begin a month of marching contests throughout
October 2015.
This
fall marching show “The Maze” features “Symphony No. 1” by Samuel Barber.
Class
5A schools are eligible advance past UIL regional marching contest, and the
band will also participate in invitational festivals to prepare for the
competition. The schedule includes:
- Saturday, October 3 – Midlothian Marching Showcase (preliminary performance at 2:00 P.M., finals begin at 7:00 P.M.)
- Saturday, October 10 – 28th Annual DeSoto Marching Classic Competition (schedule TBA)
- Tuesday, October 13 – UIL Region Marching Contest at Herman Clark Stadium in Fort Worth (performance at 4:30 P.M.)
- Saturday, October 17 – Sam Houston State University Marching Festival in Huntsville (schedule TBA)
- Saturday, October 24 – UIL Area B Marching Contest at Tommy Standridge Stadium in Carrollton
If
successful at the region and area level, the band could advance to the UIL
state marching contest set for November 3 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Head
drum major Braden Jumper is assisted by Emma McKelvain. Also serving in band
leadership positions are drumline captain Reagan Hall; section leaders Whitney
Shearon (flute), Reagan Clarkson (clarinet), Sam Perez (saxophone), Matthew
Johnston (trumpet), Brennan Ross (French horn), Fernando Barragan (low brass),
and Aaron Morgan (tuba); drill captains Reece Ahler, Brynn Bednarz, Melaine
Boleng, Gavin Clarkson, Shannon Cooke, Tiffany Henney, Kalvin Hughes, Saylor
Jordan, Rayni Skaggs, Lily Thornton, and Cameron Weeks.
