Granbury ISD’s Twitter page was honored as of the top social media pages in the region during the 5th Annual Texas Social Media Conference on November 6, 2015, at Tarleton State University’s campus in Fort Worth.

Five school districts that are members of the university’s Effective Schools Project received the recognition, which was among statewide awards presented by the Texas Social Media Research Institute at the conference. In addition to Granbury, also honored were the Fort Worth, Godley, Keller, and Lewisville school districts.

GISD has maintained the @granburyisd account on Twitter since January 2010. The page currently has over 3,800 followers.

Thirty-seven school districts in North and Central Texas were analyzed for their use of Twitter. The study by three researchers reviewed 1,951 individual tweets during a six-week period covering November 1- December 15, 2014. Each tweet was evaluated for its display of one-way vs. two-way communication, original messaging vs. re-tweets (RTs), number of RTs and favorites, and use of photography, graphics, and videos.

Initiated in 1988 at Tarleton, ESP has evolved into one of the nation's largest and longest-running school improvement ventures.
