DRUMLINE WINS THIRD AT LONE STAR CLASSIC

The
GHS Pirate Band drumline won third place at the Lone Star Classic drumline contest
held November 7, 2015, at Marcus High School in Flower Mound.
The
drumline placed in a standstill division featuring schools from the Dallas-Fort
Worth area. The group also won a caption
award for Best Bass Line.
The
competition is considered the “state championship” of the high school drumline community,
according to GHS percussion director Tahlequah Kirk.
Members of the drumline from both GHS and Crossland Ninth Grade
Center are: snares – Meghan Childers,
Addie Jackson (section leader), Hayden Tackett; basses – Cadence Chiappe
(section leader), Payton Freeman, Ashleigh Hallmark, Angelina Pena; cymbals –
Zach Martin, Hannah Myers, Bethany Pavelick (section leader); front ensemble –
J.J. Beyer, Martin Briones, Enrique Espinoza, Reagan Hall (drum captain), Hope
Long, Tyler Rau, Jolie Rudisale, Cole Stephens, Phil Tilleman.
