EIGHT CHOIR STUDENTS MAKE FINAL ALL-STATE AUDITION ROUND

Eight choir students from
Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center recently advanced toward
the final round of auditions to qualify for one of three all-state choirs.
Seniors Kiersten Mathis (alto
2) and Zach Zagrocki (bass 2) both earned first-chair honors in their
respective voices. Others advancing are Baylee
Davis (alto 2), Brynn Deger (alto 1), Jake Piland, Statia Sokol (soprano 2), Andrew
Walters (bass 2), and Casey Wilcox (alto 1). Piland, Walters, and Wilcox are all freshmen.
The students qualified during
pre-area auditions held November 21, 2015, at Burleson High School. The group next travels to Midland for the
final auditions, which will be held January 9, 2016, at Robert E. Lee High
School.
Mathis made state ensembles
during the past two years. In addition,
Deger and Zagrocki qualified for the final auditions last year.
These students were among a
large contingent from GHS and Crossland Ninth Grade Center performing with
region and district choirs during a concert on November 14 at Weatherford High
School.
In addition to these eight
advancing students, performing with the region choir were Kaitlyn Bailey,
Ashley Brooke Boyd, Jamie Garcia, Reagan Hall, Raul Jamie Hernandez, Amanda
Peterson, Taunton Puckett, Brennan Ross, Grace Sokol, and Shannon Wornell.
District choir members were Fernando
Barragan, Garrin Brassie, Nash Buescher, April Cabrera, Lizzy Garcia, Cesar
Gutierrez, Kalvin Hughes, Craig Knisley, Liesl Krone, Christopher Lancaster,
Zoe Mehall, Audrey Montgomery, Aaron Morgan, Lauren Mullican, Bailey
Occhipinti, Dakota Paulo, Paige Pritchard, Skylar Schreiber, Joshua Smith,
Darrin Stone, Robert Stowell Jr., Savannah Wark, Remington Watson, and Chris
Willis.
