Seven soloists are advancing
to the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest on May 28-30 in Austin.
GHS BAND STUDENTS SHINE AT SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST

Band students from Granbury
High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center recently competed in the UIL
Region 7 solo and ensemble contest. The contest was held February 20, 2016, at
Crowley High School.

Soloists earning a trip to
state are: Lauren Boleng, flute; Meghan
Childers, percussion; Ashleigh Hallmark, percussion; Addison Jackson,
percussion; Aaron Morgan, tuba; Tyler Rau, percussion; Brennan Ross, French
horn.
Also qualifying for state are
seven ensembles:
- Brass Quintet: Fernando Barragan, Matthew Johnston, Aaron Morgan, Brennan Ross, Dustin Tonkovich
- Clarinet Trio: Melanie Boleng, Mikayla Hamilton, Rayni Skaggs
- Flute Trio: Lauren Boleng, Tiffany Henney, Mallory Irish
- Flute Trio: Hannah Cheek, Whitney Shearon, Emily Tipton
- French Horn Quartet: Katlyn Baccus, Ian Cone, Kelsey Pavelick, Lily Thornton
- Saxophone Quintet: Kalvin Hughes, Emma McKelvain, Savannah Oliver, Hannah Pallet, Sam Perez
- Trombone Quartet: Tyler Beeson, Dylan Cook, Leslie Grubbs, Shawn Lawrence
Other soloists earning a
Division I superior rating were: Reece Ahler, trombone; Fernando Barragan,
euphonium; Melanie Boleng, clarinet; J.J. Beyer, percussion; Cadence Chiappe,
percussion; Ian Cone, French horn; Payton Freeman, percussion; Matthew
Johnston, trumpet; Alex Inbody, clarinet; Bailey McCall, flute; Emma McKelvain,
alto saxophone; Hannah Myers, oboe; Isaac Orellana, tuba; Angelina Pena,
percussion; Leslie Price, bass clarinet; Avery Prince, trumpet; Jolie
Rudisaile, percussion; Rayni Skaggs, clarinet; Cole Stephens, percussion; Emily
Tipton, flute; Cameron Weeks, trombone.
Also earning top marks were
two large ensembles:

The students are under the direction of Mark Eastin and Tahlequah Kirk.
